The TRC Media Awards – Flat Plans

After deciding what ideas I was going to use for the invitations and poster for the TRC Media Awards, I designed a basic layout for the ideas on Photoshop.

The TRC Media Awards – Research

Before we go to the reprographics department, we needed to know what sort of information we’d need to find out, therefore we came up with a list of questions.

  1. What finishing techniques do they have?
  2. How long does it take to print the final product? (Turn around times)
  3. How much does it cost to print and does it vary depending on quantity and size?
  4. What kind of chemicals do they use?
  5. What equipment is used to create the final product?
  6. How much is postage?
  7. What is the most amount of quantities they can produce?

Rob also emailed us a Reprographics Request Form that we would have to fill in when we come to using the department, as it makes it easier for them to process all the requests as well as having evidence for what we requested, if anything was to go wrong.

The TRC Media Awards – Researching Similar Products (Publicity Materials)

I used the website Pinterest to create an online moodboard of Film Festival Invitations and Film Festival Posters, as it looks professional and I could individually explain why each poster or logo would be a good idea to use for our TRC Media Awards, when I do the linocut design.

For my poster I will need to avoid using too much text as it will only be glanced at. It will largely consist of imagery with vibrant colours which will attract peoples attention.

The TRC Media Awards – Linocut Practise

As preparation for linocutting our TRC Media Award design, we had an attempt at linocutting any design we wanted, so that we had practise and know what to do and not to do, and learn from any mistakes we make within our first attempt.
